The year is 2018. The University of Pretoria Hatfield campus is alive and bustling with students. An unlikely pair are about to cross paths and hopefully begin what is supposed to be a beautiful and romantic movie worthy relationship … or so the story is supposed to go, but this is not quite where the story starts.

  Our unlikely pair crossed paths on the very first day of varsity but only started dating a year and a bit later. Much to each of their surprise, Rebecca deleted Chezney’s number immediately after receiving it and they hardly interacted until they both attend the UP-residence house committee camp. Yet again, Rebecca would dice her chances at love by trying to set up one of her friends with Chezney (not yet at this point realizing this is truly the man for her).

A misinterpretation of who was supposed to be set up, an awkward hand interlocking during a sokkie dance, a stolen jacket and one house committee camp later, this pair are now set to become husband and wife.

From August 2019, Rebecca and Chezney have been inseparable. Spending their first date at a Mexican restaurant talking quite literally the whole night away, these two have never been able to get enough of each other. After quietly getting to know one another for several months, they accidentally made their relationship public by holding hands at a Varsity Cup rugby game. A scene which the spectator camera’s caught and broadcasted live on DSTv, prompting some of their friends to take screenshots and alert them that there is no longer a cat in the bag. For those of you asking, the photo shown here is from that fateful day.

These two have gotten to truly know and love each other over the years.

We could go on and on, but alas, let’s save some for the wedding speech. Here we are, 7 years down the line heading towards the big day.
